The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar has released an official notification for the IKS Internship Program 2026 under a Ministry of Education (MoE) sponsored project. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for engineering students to gain research experience in Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), particularly in analyzing traditional Indian folk music.
With 36 internship positions, a monthly stipend of ₹10,000, and a 2-month duration, this program is ideal for students looking to enhance their academic and research profile.

Eligibility Criteria of NIT Silchar IKS Internship 2026 (Who Can Apply?)
Who Can Apply
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Students currently pursuing:
- BE / BTech
- MTech (Self-sponsored)
- Must be an Indian citizen
- Age should be below 35 years
- Preference will be given to:
- Students with First Class throughout their academic career.
Who Cannot Apply
- Candidates not enrolled in BE/BTech/MTech programs.
- Students from non-technical backgrounds.
- Candidates above 35 years of age (without applicable relaxation).
- Those who cannot commit to the 2-month internship duration.
- Applicants providing incomplete or incorrect information.
Age Relaxation
Relaxation in age and qualifications is applicable as per Government of India norms for:
- SC / ST
- OBC
- Women
- PwD
- EWS
